tiny white bugs?

not mites

I use shredded aspen bedding, purchased as a special order from a local supply store. I just switched to this about 3 months ago. I am not sure if this is the culprit.

I got a new snake in & discovered the bugs on her. Mite off seemed to clear it up last week, but now I found other snakes near her with a lot of these little bugs crawling on them.

I have dealt with mites once b4, & they were bigger & black. Upon very close scrutiny (6 inches away from my snake), I can see them gathering in groups of 10 & 20. Yuck!

Ideas?

Sounds like you may have wood mites - although regular snake mites in their neonate stage can also be white. Either way - you'll need to get them off your animals and out of your cages - treatment will be the same. You've been around long enough that we probably don't have to do the "how to treat for mites" symposium right?

Good luck!

JET Pythons

(CJBianco explaining the origins of the BP market.)
"In the beginning Bob created the Ball Python market. And the market was without morph, and wild traits were upon the industry. And Bob said, Let there be morph, and there was morph. And Bob saw the morph, that it was good; and Bob divided the morph from the wild trait. And Bob called the morph Albino, and the wild trait Normal. And the Albino and the Heterozygous Albino were the first investment.

Sounds like a bedding issue! Cook that bag of bedding in the oven (without the bag of course)!
