not sure what to do with a prairie king hatchling!!!!..................................................

Big Donnie BRASC Aug 19, 2003 07:39 PM

I friend of mine that knows I like snakes approached me and said "my little girl was digging in the barn and found these eggs, I think they're snake eggs". They were and they were prairie kings. I told her I would "rescue" them, and let them loose in her barn after they hatched. Well the shriveled little eggs poofed back out, and 6 of the 8 hatched out just fine! The next day at work, I was surprised to see her at my door with a critter keeper in her hands, saying that I had to take one as "payment" for all my help.
Well, it's a neat snake and all, but I'm just not interested in keeping it. If anyone wants to tell me what first food items to offer it after it sheds, I'll feed it for a few weeks and it's up for grabs to anyone that wants it for free! (I know this is not the classifieds)

Thanks in advance
Don

Praire kings are good rodent eaters, even at a young age. After a shed, try a mouse pinkie (baby mouse, still pink). Good luck-Zach
