Our first BEE!

muddoc Aug 07, 2007 08:50 PM

This has been one of those things that I have been waiting four years for. And, it finally happened. We bred our Spider male to our very first Pastel Female (a smaller 2004 animal) and got 5 eggs. We ended up with 1.0 Normals, 1.0 Spiders and 1.2 BumbleeBees. The first two Bees to come out were female, so I was getting nervous that we wouldn't get our male. Then, Monica miss sexed the third animal while I was at work. So, I drove home all bummed out that we didn't get a male. When I got home, I checked out the last female to verify the sex. Low and behold a little boy. Then I had to bring it to Sean to have him double check it for me to make sure I wasn't seeing things. I also posted a picture of 2 of the Bees piping. In the group photo, the males are in the back row, and the females are in the front.

Hope you enjoy the pics as much as I enjoy looking at them,

You must be pretty spoiled to be bummed about 3 female bee's

I DO like those two lovely ladies in the front row.
Usually I don't like moustaches on females, but, those two pull it off somehow.

The gal on the left is a real stunner. Textbook Spider pattern, high-white, and with just the Pastel's colour influence. (ie: no 'spots' in her pattern.)

Congrats on GREAT odds and a great looking clutch of BPs.

Thanks Backbeat. She is a stuuner. It has become a very tough decision on which female to keep.
