whats the BEST substrate or bedding for hogs??

I prefer aspen about 2" deep. They can burrow and it is easy to spot clean.

I use sani chips and have never had a problem. Easy to burrow in.

I use a top soil mix at least 2' thick, she loves it and it gives her tank a nice look!

I'm probably not the norm but I keep all of mine on cage liners, though I give them more hidesites to make up for the decreased amount of cover.

I use Carefresh. Fun to dig in and no chance of splinters. Also, I suspect its fluffy texture makes it a good insulator, which is handy if there's a problematic change in room temperature.
