I have a baby iguana and today when i was holding him i noticed that his right foot long toe was lose and floppy. im only 14 and cant afford to take him to the vet and my mom cant either i dont want any thing to happen to Bird what should i clean it with he has a small cut on it a swell any suggestions?
please help a.s.a.p

my vet has suggested neosporin for iguana cuts in the past. i would dab some on the cut. try to keep the iguana calm and quiet...so he doesn't injure his toe further...

What I recommend is you adopt your iguana to someone who can afford to properly care for him. how would you like it if you broke you leg and your parents didn't take you to the docter cause it costs too much. you are basically doing the same thing to your iguana. shame on you

I took my iguana to the vet to days ago. in my message i said or if i didnt say it i meant at the time i cant afford to take him. the vet said every thing should be ok he said put neosporin on it just like alohaem said. so thanks alohaem you helped me out the most.

I'm confused. Did you or didn't you take him? A vet put neosporin (a human 'medication') on your iguana? For a broken toe? This sounds fishy, because I don't know a single vet who wouldn't use an animal specific cream for an animal, and I don't see a reason why they would just put an antibiotic cream on a break. I think you're just trying to avoid flaming, and the poor iggy never went to the vet at all, but hey, that's just my educated guess.

And by the way, I'm not saying that they wouldn't necessarily reccomend it (if you couldn't get there immediately), but in their own vet clinic, neosporin would likely be replaced by a better for animals subsitute. So, did you just call?

no i took him to the vet they said neosporin will be fine for the cut they cant do nothing for the break. his cut has healed up and is no long open but still looks kinda scabbis his toe still has color in it the vet says if it turns black he needs to go back to get it amputated

sorry for snapping. I've been having an awful week.
What kind of "bedding" do you have him on, because some of the carpet type beddings can actually hook the nail and when they struggle to get it loose, they can end up breaking toes.

he has retabark
i got a lil mad to so dont worry bout it he's all better though my guess is that he jumped and hurt it though cause he is still a lil jumpy sometimes
