Question for the forum

CDieter Aug 08, 2007 06:07 PM

I'm primarily a croc guy these days and keep some ratsnakes as a hobby, as such I need some help here. I crossed a leusistic black rat with another of the same and of course got leucistic offspring. Big healthy hatchlings.

Here is my question. The leuts have black eyes, as do all the hatchlings except 1. It has red eyes.

2 seperate genes involved here?

The one with pink eys is more likely an albino leucistic.Your leucys are most likely het albino also.
I also hatched leucys this year.I have not really looked at them that closely yet,but I don't think I got any pink eyed babys.

I was unaware that an albino leucistic was even possible with black rats. Up until this point I don't recall seeing one. My albino black rats are yellow with red eyes.

They are an interesting project.
