Any older timers from South Florida who remember when there was a small zoo at Markham Park? I use to buy rats from the guy who was the reptile curator (if you could call it that) out at the old zoo. Does anybody know or remember who that was?. I use to walk the dike just west of the park before sun rise real early and one of my friends got a real spook from the lion at the zoo doing a little growl, just really like heavy breathing. He forgot about the zoo, and I guess the sound really carried a long way. Funny as heck at the time!
