No Disrespect..

DPreston Aug 09, 2007 03:47 AM

I honetly mean absolutely no disrespect at all here. I'm not challenging anyones credibility or anything even similar to that. I'm just curious.

This is a question for the people who have purchased the Het Calico's from NERD. I've been thinking about picking one or a pair up. I was wondering if anyones animals have actually turned yet? Or better yet did the great guys at NERD hold any back and have them turn? I've seen Medusa and the other Calico's they keep and I'm simply fascinated by them.

The issue with the Calico gene is that the snakes usually dont start to turn until they are at least 2 years old. Some have been known to not turn until age 5yrs. From what I know those babies that have been held back aren't quite old enough yet to start showing their ture colors (pun intended).
Chainsaw has a female het Calico from them and I believe she has started to speckle out a little. He also had another female whom I believe has already turned.

I wish that they would turn sooner as I would love to see if my female is a Calico or not.

Hope this helps

It does. I just wanted to see how lucky everyone else has gotten. I'm seriously starting to consider picking up a pair. I have so many snakes to pick up! lol

There are no cb het calicos that have turned in two years, however, there is proof that some adults have turned calico...just very few

I did not say they would have a full transformation by age two.

I did say they could start the transformation at age two. When I say start that is meaning they start getting little white speckling. The only reason why I can say this is my females sister has started to speckle and she is just over two years old.

It's not an instantaneous transformation. All the fully transformed females were adult snakes when they were done.
I have tried to contact NERD to get a lot more information on their Calicos but they've never replied. I would really like to learn all they know.

I have a 2 yo female that is a daughter to Medusa. I love her to death! Great color - great everything! I did a lot of research on the whole Calico thing before I purchased her and figured worse case senero I would have an awesome looking "normal". Honestly, if you buy a pair of "het Calicos" and raise them up, it will take years to proove out. Is that the direction you want to go in??
