What's the difference between a sunglow and an amel? I have a bunch of hurricane babies that look like this, but I thought they were amels, not sunglows. Any help?

I think sunglows have varied origins...some consider sunglows to be amels that are selectively bred to show little or no white, OR some are amels w/bloodred influences, OR amels with hypo influences... I am not totally clear about it myself BUT I did get this one from a good breeder last year, so I am positive its a sunglow. PLUS, its hard to tell in the pic BUT I am pretty sure that mine has bloodred influence since its head was almost all whitish/grey (which its now starting to lose-but typical of a bloodreds). I have heard the term sunspots & sunkists...but not really sure what those are entirely. Hope I helped a little. With all the breeding going on today, its no surprise if you have hatchlings that are representative of a varity of diff. morphs.

True sunglows are amel that have been selectively breed to have little or now white. As far as hatchlings go, they look exactly the same, but with each shed the white will get less and less until it is gone or almost gone by about 24 months. The only way to be sure is to buy from an honest breed and to get pics of the parents.
