How long will it take before you can notice the female getting very large when Gravid????

This was my first season and I "thought" I saw my female ovulate (which she did) and I still wasnt sure all the way up to a week before she was due to lay whether she was actually gravid or not. she laid 5 massive eggs and It was amazing to think 7 days before I didnt think she was gravid.

LOL wow I thought I was the only one.. I had the same thing, it is such a gradual change that you start to doubt anything is going. Until they lay those eggs and then they are so skinny it is amazing to see just how big the eggs are and that you did'nt know for sure.

Thats how I feel right now I see all these pictures showing these femals that looked like they ate a small rabit when they are gravid and sitting back looking at mine going danm how many times do I need to pu you with the male because they have locked plenty of times and now dont want anything to do with each other.

alpharoyals Aug 09, 2007 03:23 PM

Thats probably a good sign, Mine were locking up all the time then they were in together for nearly a week without them locking up and a few days after that she ovulated and trust me you cant mistake that Lol.

One of mine was only with the male twice never saw ovulation, and one day befor she laid eggs I put her in with the male, she was annoyed and he stayed as far from as possible.

You can't miss it. LOL.

Not all that long after you seperate them from breeding you should see the female swell up if it took.

Ovulation is rather easy to spot - they look like they swallowed a football - however if you don't check your females regularly it's usually over within about 24 hours so you might miss it. And then they go back to looking rather normal in size but with a slightly "fuller" look to them especially in smaller girls.

Good luck!

JET Pythons

(CJBianco explaining the origins of the BP market.)
"In the beginning Bob created the Ball Python market. And the market was without morph, and wild traits were upon the industry. And Bob said, Let there be morph, and there was morph. And Bob saw the morph, that it was good; and Bob divided the morph from the wild trait. And Bob called the morph Albino, and the wild trait Normal. And the Albino and the Heterozygous Albino were the first investment.
