my 1st super and an odd ball

sgraff Aug 09, 2007 04:53 PM

I got my first super out of four eggs. One pastel is out the other is still in the egg and what appears to be a normal head is sticking out of the last egg..... I could still be suprized but it looks normal. I didnt think there could be a normal from pastel to pastel... thoughts? I tried to post a pict but i dont know how sorry

Sounds like you hit the odds exactly..Since there is a 25% chance for super,50% chance for pastel, and 25% chance for normal(per egg)...
Remember, pastel is het for super pastel. So the two pastels and the normal are exactly what people refer to as 66% when dealing with recessives(It's just that you get to see the pastel gene in het form..Which is why people call them co-dom instead of recessive).

wow.... i guess i didnt really think about it, what you are saying makes sense. I have been looking all over birthing records and some miss out on the super but a lot dont produce the normal, its clutched of all pastels so i guess thats why im suprized. thanks for clearing that up 4 me
