Extreme color change in male brb....

FRoberts Aug 09, 2007 06:43 PM

I purchased this snake from Jeff Clark on May 22, 2006.

He looked like this...

about a 7-8 months later he sheds and changes color and has remained this color ever since...

much lighter at night-time ( stunning looking to be honest )

cell phone pic's but pretty accurate portrayal of his day colors...

anyone ever see anything so extreme ? ? ?

plus a few new OT pic's I had to include....

Mikey....( yeah he will eat anything )

Neonate female 2007 JCP ( gunna be high yellow ) Lazik/Sipperly (ssp) stock...

Joke : What do you get an 80 year old lady for her birthday ?

Hint : the pixie knows....laughs

I may have already asked but is this guy from Santaremo's litter also and how long did the color change last in terms of shed from start to finish even though that will be very hard to pin point but guesstimates will work for me.

I'm pretty sure I asked Jeff already that ? and he didn't keep records from that clutch and since he alernates males he also doesn't know the father but I'm sure he wants to know or at least I do. I would love to see a mating with either a hypo or an anery do see what the second generation looks like. What's your plans with him Frank besides a normal female?

current plans are just this female from jeff, he is staying in the collection for the long haul, do not know, he is quite interesting to say the least color wise.....

Frank,
..Must be from same bloodline as Sataremo. It even looks like the crescents are turning white. If there was not all the hype about morphs I would be saying "sorry about that color, do you want a refund".

Well his crescents are white, esp at night, I wouldn't give him back, nor do I want a refund. I am going to breed him to the female. Both those rainbows are great snakes. They never attempt to bite. They eat well and in my opinion will breed nice. They will make some nice babies. Apparently his babies may be easier to sell, I would be foolish not to picture and mention what he looks like. personally I like the high orange and high red animals. Hypos and anery's are not nearly as nice far as I am concerned.

He is still a keeper. He is not anery. Looks like some type of color anomaly. But he could re change color again I bet. So I also like snakes that are not typical to other specimens.

Someone else posted about a similar color change 3 or 4 yrs ago. Personaly, I think the white cresents are attractive. Don't the so called "calico's" change during their maturity?Wonder what ever happened with that project..........

rainbowsrus Aug 10, 2007 10:34 PM

Just so happens Brian and I were discussing the calico project recently. As I understand it, his calico male was bred some years back and produced one litter of babies. I think they were born 4 or 5 years ago??? Anyways, two pair's of those babies were sold to unknown buyers at shows as offspring from that male. He'd never heard from them before or after. The remaining babies were lost in a t-stat failure, lost the entire rack of yearlings and some other stuff so the project is back at square one.

Not sure on the calico thing, the snake is quite nice in my opinion, especially at night. He is a keeper, just threw me off when he changed colors.
