Hi
Just wondering how many of you are having your heat bulbs explode on you? I've had 2 explode now, one for absolutely no reason and the other due to misting...
Any of you concerned about potential fire hazards?

I quit using them after I had two burn out (not explode) within 2 months. They aren't needed. Overnight temps can safely drop to mid-60s.
If they're needed to raise constant ambient temps there's a much better soultion, CHEs (ceramic heating elements). A little more costly up front but will last for years, thereby saving money from exploding heat lamps, and possible animal injury or fire hazard.
Have a good one!

I never had bulbs explode...I just use normal everyday household bulbs and halogen flood lights for basking spots. ONly time I had a bulb break in a cage..is when one of my bearded dragons decided to try and jump ontop of the florescent tube fixture...and managed to get high enough to shake the UVB bulb out of the it.
