Does anyone know any good places to go road cruising in southern California? I live in Lancaster, and I find a lot of mojaves out here, but I would like to find C. ruber, C. cerestes, C. viridis, and spectacled rattlers.

To anyone who uses this technique, when is best to go time and weather wise? How fast do you drive and how much traffic is there? I almost always find roadkill, even though we see very few cars on the backroads. Any other information would be appreciated.
