How expensive is an iguana vet?

myiggywanna Aug 11, 2007 12:32 PM

I live in Daytona and my vet runs from $60 - $110, depending on what treatment is given. Most vets have payment plans too. Any pet you have is worth every penny to take care of. Your iguana depends on you, looks to you to be taken care of. Please, please don't watch little ig suffer, find a vet asap, even if it is an emergency vet because of the weekend.

Unfortunately the soonest I can get to a vet is friday, and I don't have any emergency vets around here. I have like 90 vet offices around here and only one of them serves lizards. I feel so bad for him but fortunately he dosen't seem to be in much pain at all. Hes eating and walking around climbing his branch. And it seems the bump on his back is decreasing in size, and he seems to be getting better. But I do wish I could get him to the vet sooner, I'am hopping for the best.

you can't judge the pain like you would a house cat or dog, or even you. In the wild the thing that looks the weakest dies first, reptiles arnt as domesticated at dogs and cats and so still have natural instincts that drive them to act as healthy as they can be. This is why people recommend you take your reptiles to a vet annually for a checkup.

if you cant aford the vet, you cant afford the pet!

please do not rely on people here for the entire care of your baby, unless they are a vet its not a Dx! and no vet i know (im a tech with lots of herps) would Dx online
my husband had an iggy before we were together and had to pay $1,500 for a broken leg because the pet store had given all the wrong info. with the help of the vet he was fixed up and lived a good long life
the forums are great for helpful hints, THEY DO NOT REPLACE VET CARE!!!
best of luck to you and the baby, keep us posted!!
