Thanks for the question, it’s one that I always get asked in person but have never had the chance to respond on a forum. We do produce a lot of animals and it’s just natural to wonder where these babies go. The market is much bigger then most people give it credit for, and it’s growing worldwide every year. That’s not to say that prices aren’t coming down, because of course they are. But as the prices come down it opens the doors for more people to get into the hobby. The fact that I don’t have a website, yet (very soon
) and I don’t advertise, and really only do a couple shows a year, how the hell do I sell everything!! The truth is that it’s just really word of mouth, it’s taking care of my clients and trying my best to treat everyone the way I’d like to be treated, not that everyone's always happy with me
.
I’m really getting started with the web and we’ll be making a lot of noise here over the next few months with a few of our ideas. Until now we just seem to always sell everything that we want to the old fashion way. I always joke around and say “if you produce it they will come”. That’s my field of dreams take
I think that everyone should market their animals to what their strengths are, in my case it’s more of a one on one sales attitude. For some it’s more of a web bases business, it’s really what ever works for you. Getting off on a tangent a little, that’s one of the reason that I haven’t pushed as hard for a website, because I want to let people get to know me by talking to me directly. I realize that I have no choice but to get out of that mind set, but I hope as I do I don’t lose what has worked for me. Sorry for the long winded answer, thanks again for the question, Brian (BHB)
