Until we've seen every Ball gene crossed with every Ball gene, why potentially muddy the waters with hybrids?
I recall a breeder a few years ago with a new eye-catching morph. But, the morph was actually some Blood/Short-tailed Python X Ball Python hybrids....cute, huh?
(I'm sure someone knows who I'm speaking of.....don't mention names....it will only get THIS post deleted....I don't type for my health.....
)
As much as I love keeping BPs, I'm a 'CornNut' at heart. Loves my gutatta! (Regardless of how some in the hobby 'look down' on Corns. grrr...lol)
Anyways, if I'm looking to add Gutatta stock, it is NOT from any breeder with even one hybrid/intergrade in their collection.
There is a 'hybrid stigma' that surrounds some corn morphs. (And those morphs in debate will not be in my collection...regardless of how 'cool' or 'neat' they look.)
When the Ball morphs took off I saw it as a 'clean slate' compared to the Corns and possible hybrid morphs...
And then came the Ball hybrids...ugh.
So, if someone is selling a Pastel with a distinctive look, a part of me wonders if the distinctive look is due to an Angolan/Ball or Blood/Ball hybrid in the animal's ancestry.....I CAN'T be the only Ball keeper who has this thought...??
