What can this lump be from? *Pics*

I just noticed this today when I was cleaning his cage. There are no cuts, abrasions or damaged scales. You can feel the hard lump underneath and roll the skin over it.

Could this be caused by aspen? Last month I switched my two pythons and boa from rubbermaids to Animal Plastic 4 footers and changed from newspaper to aspen. I use radiant heat panels for a heat source. I feed f/t rat pups. Never saw a mite or tick anywhere in the cages or my house for that matter.

Thanks in advance
Jeff

I didn't realize you wouldn't be able to click on these like some other forums.

Thanks
Jeff

I would take it to the vet, If there is no visible wound it could be an abscess or cyst. I had one on my royals head, it came up in less then 24hours and was drained and treated with antbiotics.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

This is what one of my imported animals looked like.

Several vets were no help.
This white thing is what came out.

Here is what I did after x-rays and several vet visits could not determine what it was. Even the lab could not conclusively ID what this was after it was out and sent for analysis.

After going to a few vets and getting nowhere, I contacted Davey Fig (KS ID) since he was successful in removing a hardened yolk on a few baby boas in the past and they survived the ordeal and lived.

He was swabbed with betadine and the blockage was injected with 1cc of saline in between the belly scales and then soaked for 1/2 an hour in warm water containing one dissolved tablet of maracyn every day for 5 days.

1/2cc of mineral oil was tubed daily in the morning and 1cc of pedialyte was tubed daily at night for the 5 days.

Every other day, he got a saline enema to release the gas build up behind the blockage.

After the 5 days of treatment, I slowly started to work the blockage down the intestinal tract and finally out the cloaca. This took about 2 hours of gentle working to get it out(he NEVER bit or hissed and was a perfect little patient LOL.)

After it was out, I tubed 1/2cc of pedialyte and placed him back in his tub.

The next day I tubed 1cc of pedialyte again to restore any lost electrolytes from the ordeal and to get some additional fluids in him.
