Best Heat -Rack System

crazydragon Aug 11, 2007 02:00 PM

OK I've read all the books and many sites.I am starting on plans for a rack system, I'm a little confused as to which heat system would be best. So I thought I'd asked your advice of what you used for heating your rack systems, and if you use a reostat or thermostat to control the heat.? Also do you have light system! I read you need lights, and also read that you don't need lights? So do we or don't we need lights? I appreciate your advice on this subject. Thanks
Joni

I use heat tapes hooked up with a thermostat. I don´t know what do you mean by light? But I think that with the belly heat provided by your UTH or heat tape is more than sufficient... Unless your room temperature is too low... In that case you would need some sort of lamp (or ceramic heater) to increase air temperature.
Hope this helps...

Thanks for the advice, decided to go with the flex watt and a helix. question on the light is the room they are in is not very bright. Will they have their cycles mess up thinking it is always dark, should i set up some kinda of lighting system so they know its daytime?

If they receive light from the outside theres no need to put some artificial lamp(12h cycle)
