1.Is it best to take the snake out of the cage to feed it or feed it in the tank?
2.When you go to take them out of the cage with a sliding glass front is it best to use a snake hook or just reach in there?
Thanks Steve

1. Always feed IN the tank.

2. Whatever works best for you. I never use hooks, but many do. I personally just let my snakes smell me at a safe angle and then go about my business. By safe angle I mean at an angle that they would not strike if they thought I was food, but that still allows their tongue to touch me. Once it is clear that they know it is me I feel safe to move them or work around them. But I never drop my guard no matter what and I still always watch the snake and try to read what it is "thinking" or is going to do.

If 50% of one's enemies are still breathing,... it just means you're doing a half-assed job.

I am going to build a new cage and I was wondering what would be good to heat the cage I was thinking either making it 1` high with 11" heat tape or else 2` high with a ceramic heater what do you think would be better?I want to try and make it so it so I dont speand so much on electric. the rest of the cage would be 4`L x 2`W Thanks Steve

I am not the one to ask on this one. I generally heat entire rooms with numerous cages in each. Though I do have one room of neos that have undertank heat tape and heat lamps, I wouldn't consider myself really all that current with what is best to use to heat a home made cage. I actually really don't like the undertank tape and am selling all that stuff and those cages. Rob Carmichael always suggests using Pro Products radiant heat panels, but I wouldn't know how to install them, you'd have to ask him. But I would always suggest to use a reliable thermostat with ALL heating devices. And dome lights attached on the outside of the cage shining in through wire mesh covered vents are always good.
