Experience with Escapees??

illbeyoursoldier Aug 11, 2007 06:21 PM

So, all of my encolsures have pin locks on it... except one. I never bothered with it because of the way the lid snapped down and in place...

...but to make a long story short, my very first snake (Adam, normal Ball Python) that I have ever owned and raised and absolutely love and trust since a baby escaped last night while we were sleeping along with my new 0 Het for Piebald.

I'm afraid my cat may have already got to them, and I don't want to wait too long in case either of them need immediate medical attention.

We had friends over and we tore the house apart searching for him, and the cat has already been taken to stay at a family members house. We even dug around the dusty crawlspace underneath the house. If anyone has any tips on were escaped ball pythons hide, or if anyone has unusual stories on where they've found their MIA snakes, please share. Adam is a 4 foot long snake; you would thing he'd be difficult to hide. But either way, he is absolutely irreplaceable to me. I don't want to loose him. PLEASE HELP...

ANY SUGGESTIONS APPRECIATED!!!

Check small spaces near the escape point. Most BPs don't go far.

If they're not nearby, check all heat sources.

Good Luck!

I had 2 escape in the past also... i searched for 24 hrs straight looking for my oldest. my mother found him laying under the Frig. i fed him the night before n he went under there for the heat.

2nd escape was with my 2nd oldest, i went lookin for him in every room, couldnt seem to find him. i walked through the dinning room, living room & into the den. went all the way back to the kitchen, and walked back to the living room with a flashlight n he was getting ready to make his way to the 2nd floor. i kno they look for heat. i read in another forum or someone also lost their snake. they used baby powder on the floor to track the snake & it worked. the snake was missing for bout 3 days n the day they used the baby powder they found him. also check between couches. snakes are quiet n sometime have to check the same spot over n over !

GOOD LUCK !

I have had a few problems thru the years, and normally mine went for my dresser. Check under the clothes in each drawer.

I went through this about 2 years ago, it was horrible tearing down the house. Well I plugged in numerous amounts of 5 gal. heatpads along the floor. I eventually found him the next mourning while I was brushing my teeth. He was right there outside the door. Good luck with your search.

THANKS FOR EVERYTHING YOU GUYS!!!

My beloved Adam showed up about an hour ago. The flour and plastic bag ideas were killer!! Worked awesome.. Never would have found them without a lot of your advice.

Hope to meet some of you in Daytona!!
