How to feed a hatchling....?

phiber_optikx Aug 12, 2007 07:15 PM

These guys are so small that I am confident even a 20 minute old pinky would be too much! I am thinking pinky heads is what they will eat. Do they usually take right to them or do you need to coax them?

try a pink. You will be surprised. i do not resort to pinkie heads until I know the snake wont take a whole pink. F/T or live.
The smallest hatchling I have ever seen surprised me today by eating a pink last night. I thought for sure that I'd open the container to find the pink sitting there. Nope. I found a tiny snake with a huge bulge, just sittin there looking at me.

I had one last year that came out of this little, undersized egg. I took the tiniest pink that I had, and when he grabbed it I was sure he was gonna choke to death on it! No such thing! He pounded down every little pink I gave him & now he's a good-sized yearling.
