I would say it looks like a bad lipstick application
Great photos.
Cactus fruit ranges from barely edible (to humans anyway) to pretty sweet. In Mexico opuntia cactus lines are selected specifically for sweet fruit but the sweetness does vary greatly. They are full of many seeds but so are those blackberries, one of my favorite fruit - nothing beats grandma's blackberry cobbler with a little Bluebell Vanilla ice cream!
My fence line, nearly all five acres of it, is lined with blackberries, plus I have a nice-sized patch standing by itself. I love mowing the lawn in blackberry season and picking them as I go. My box turtles really love them, too- even my Eastern who I've never seen eat anything not moving.

Some are very sweat - like what we call prickly pare (I think they call them Tuna - spelling) in South America.
Another cactus fruit - Dragon fruit taste much like Kewi Fruit - Another South American fruit - but often grown in Asia. They normally have a soft sticky texture with LOTS of seeds.
Oh and green cactus fruit is very, very bitter.
Prickly Pear fruit is delicious, and very healthy for humans and tortoises. It is very high in fiber. I really enjoy the green/yellow fruit. It tastes a bit like Kiwi crossed with either Honeydew or watermellon.
The fruit of cacti holds tons of moisture as do the pads. I find that Prickly Pear fruit helps my headaches a bit and really is a soothing treat on a hot day!!
There is a desert specialty shop online that sells a syrup that you can use on either waffles or in mixed drinks.... Got to love this fruit!
Look at any of the Opuntia type cactus... Especially the Burbank type (Opuntia Ficus-Indica), and the Silver Dollar type (Opuntia Robusta). Both grow really fast and produce lots of fruit. I'm growing Santa Rita (Purple Prickly Pear cactus) now, but have not had fruit yet.
