how to determine if the mouse is too big ?? ?? IS THIS SIZE TOO BIG FOR MY BALL ?

zawakees Aug 20, 2003 01:02 AM

my ball stopped eating !!! i think its because i switched to hoppers ? he's 18.5 inches, and i'm feeding him hoppers, well i tried to feed him hoppers... i put him in a seperate box with the mouse for hours ... he just stood there in a defensive position, like he's scared of him !

do snakes know that a meal is too big for them ?

thanks

Switched to hoppers from what? Most Ball Pythons can eat an adult mouse soon after hatching. Maybe start at a hopper for the first few meals, and switch up to adult in a month or two. You've had your BP for a few months now, right? S/he should be fine with an adult mouse. Sometimes, they skip a meal. No big deal. Are you feeding live or F/T? Save it for a week, and try again. Again, not an expert, just my experience.

he was eating ft mice, but the last time i fed him, i wiggled the mouse and he struck at it and eventually ate it. maybe that's the problem .
