why is my lep. tort. ( about 4 mths old) shell soft? I give a good varied diet and some calcium suppliment from time to time. Please help. Thanks.
Try letting your Tort have some unfiltered (No glass or plastic between sun and Tort) for a few hours a day and your Tort should become hard again. Oh and try and avoid high oxalic acid plants (lettuce, Cabbage and New Zealand Spinach) They will take the Calcium from your poor tort's bones.
Try and feed your little guy on plants that are high in calcium and he/she should be fine.
But the best is natural sunlight - just make sure you do not cook the little guy by not giving him/her a change to move out of the sun.
