Found it. Sorry I missed the discussion. Do you have Baja animals to test in a cross? I bet they are the same. The Long Beach animals also.

Throwing my 2 cents in on the striped males discussion, it could be that striping is partially controlled hormonally which would make it appear to be sex linked. Many possibilities when it comes to gene regulation.
