I hate to say it. But after everyone was saying it was a high white i told you so.
It will also keep getting more yellow as it matures.

....saying, "I told you so" is not necessary, nor is it appropriate. I believe the "discussion" that you and Kerby were having previously regarding this hatchling had more to do with semantics than a discussion of true color. Although, out of the egg this guy was pink, I freely stated that his neck region was a creamy color and not a HARD white. His body has simply taken on the same coloration that his neck region exibited initially. I fully expect his coloration to deepen with age, but I doubt he will turn yellow as you insist, since the father is a hard white and the mother is of a deep cream coloration.
That being said, whether a person chooses to refer to a snake as a "high white" or a "banana" (again, semantics) is all relative and depends upon the specific color characteristics of the two parents that contribute to the intermediate coloration of the offspring. This determination requires some type of standardization, so that coloration can be determined with unprejudiced consideration. This is one of the reasons I choose to photograph my snakes on a plain white blackground. You can put any "label" on a snake that you want and categorize it accordingly. The offense, in my eyes, is when a person photographs and presents a snake in a way that is clearly not representative of what the snake looks like in "natural light".
My intent has always been to draw friendly comments and opinions regarding this animal or any other. If you require a high horse to mount, I'm afraid that I cannot provide you with one.

Actaully its not a high white and never was , is, and still isn't. Many people called me on it and you sided with their comments. I have been around a while and this is basic Cal king 101.REALLY! It's a no brainer. What you have is a bannana cal king. Nothing else but that. They have been around for a long time and were way before the high white deserts ever were. Those facts won't change. AT least you could have said something along the lines of Rainer (Bluerosy) was right all along and I should have never doubted him. I even asked you to post a pic of that snake in 6 months and laid a bet out. Now you post it a couple weeks later and it is already turning yellow and you changed the story of the discussion, It's not a matter of semantics as you suggest want to beleive. IUt never was. It's a matter of breeders concerted efforts over long periods of time to acheive a high whiet desert phase cal king. Oh its a nice snake as all snake are. But if then someone comes along to misidentify a high white again because of your post and use use the wrong lable (high white)some people wil, get confused. Some breeders worked very hard for a long time to achieve.
Now I stated in my thread before this one, that I never meant to diss you snake. But you still chose to ignore that part. Let me put it this way. This is a public forum. Sometimes correct information is needed and if that hurts you or anyones elses feelings that was not my intent. However you crass remarks just now makes me think you are not even interested what your snake really is. So enjoy it and its "non" history. However, bottom line i was correct and your snake is a $50-$100. snake. If it was a high white it would sell for $250 and that was my point all along. No need to get offended by the price. It is just a matter of education. Some people like Kerby wish to make you feel good and thats all fine. This forum is not a kindergarten and sometimes a little correct info goes a long way.
You should be happy for the info I gave you. Your welcome!
Rainer

Before mayone jumps in here and thiks I am being hard look at the thread where this started.

Great pics Maria. Very cool little snake. I love how you captured him with his head raised. What background are you photgraphing them against that has that transition from shaded on top to white on bottom?

Hi Craig,
Thanks for the compliment on this guy. I've moved away from photographing snakes on a "natural" background and have settled instead on plain white. I feel it gives a better reference for color and brightness. It is simply the white top of a large sterilite container. The dark "transition" appears because I like to photograph my snakes horizontally from the front, preferably when they are "looking at me". The fill flash and diffuser I use are mounted on top of my camera, so it has the effect of slightly overexposing what is in front of the focal plane, and the shadows (or lack of light) behind the focal plane are exacerbated so they appear more dark.
Now, if I can only produce a "patternless" thayeri

Great looking pictures of it.
when Frank Retes' comments were still in it.
It is a beautiful snake, one of the nicest of its phase / mutation (I'm not going to enter the frey) that I have seen. I really mean that, it is extraordinary, and very well photographed.
wow what a snake, can you post to uk LOL. We have short supply of breeders over here and these sort of snakes are rare sights, I LOVE EM!!!!!!!
