NEED HELP WITH EARLESS LIZARD

Turtlestork Aug 14, 2007 02:31 PM

I today just got a what I was told was a Southwestern Earless Lizard male. I picked it up without knowing too much about it(I know, I'm bad) becasue it was the only one and I knew it would be gone the next day. The guy told me they were quite similar to BD's temperature wise and they would feed off crickets I have a 20 gallon that he will go in, and being that they occur in similar places to the collard lizards I plan on treating it similar to a collard lizard. I really just need to know what substrate they need and the temps they prefer. Thanks.

There are different types, Greater earless lizard and Lesser earless lizard and maybe another I forget the name, found in the southwest. Very cool looking.

I left a link that has a few short facts about each, hope it helps.

Would love to see some pics! I like them

Well, it is a subspecies of Earless called the Southwest Earless. He is burrowing now that I gave him a total sand substrate, and he even pooped a bit, and i have found evidence he is eating. I set up a cup that drips into a bowl for him to drink. I covered the tank on 2 sides with black garbage bag because he has been trying to jump at the glass and get out. He isn't too stressed, or he would have dropped his tail or look more pale. sometimes he calms down and basks and burrows. Heopefully he stops jumping at the glass when he settles in. I am going to call the place tomorrow, ask what he think about it(he knows his stuff).
