Skyler81 Aug 14, 2007 09:02 PM

So I'm seeing prices for albino balls from say 850-1000 or so...I don't currently have any snakes (I have in the past) I really want a albino ball mainly just for a pet and cause I think there awesome, what does everyone thing the typical price will be over the next year or so?

Generally prices hold from now until next breeding season when it drops again.

IMO I dont see albinos coming down much lower than what they are about now. I think 850-1000 is a good price and im hoping it stays there. I will be producing albinos in the next few years but not sellin them for a while gonna start some albino pied projects and albino pins i hope or albino butters and butter pieds ohh so many selections lol

i really hope the prices hold at this level for the next year or 2 at least, ive been wanting an albino for like 2 years and they have stayed pretty much the same. and plus now im gonna be getting some albino babies this season from my pair i paid a hefty price so they better not start decreasing right when im starting my albino project up ...

the thing with albinos is due to the recessive gene it still takes alot of work to get an albino

also I agree the mixing of the albino gene into the other morphs to make more designers snakes will help in the long run

I feel that the albinos will go down more, but not quickly. It has taken the 15 years to go from 7500 to what they are now. I guess you could figure they go down about $100-$200 per year. I also feel that the albino pieds, albino g-stripes, snows, and some other albino combinations are going to help them hold their price pretty well. I am predicting about 5 years until we see them for $250-$400. They have survived Daytona for the last 15 years and it hasn't hurt them that much, so I don't see why this year is any different.

kazproductionz Aug 15, 2007 01:46 AM

I don't see them dropping below $750 for a while. There are many morphs that are to come and for it to be bred into. It's also a simple recessive so it is not as easy to produce as all the co-dom morphs out there. We shall see...only time will tell. I hope the market does hold for the sake of those people that have put morgages on home and maxed out credit cards on snakes haha.

I hit enter by mistake and it posted...but anyway the upside to the market is there are many morphs to be had as all the breeders like myself uncover with each breeding season. Good luck to all you guys out there both breeders, enthusiasts, pet owner, and so on. I am heading down tomorrow to daytona and I am realy looking foward to it...hope it's a good show and everyone else going enjoys it was well! Pe@ce ya'll

Clowns, and so on. The prices will never hold and getting any morph will only lead to heartbreak and bankruptcy. Don't do it!

Seriously, this has got to be the all time winner of the "thread from hell". Really, it does not matter. It is what it is and you can't fight city hall.

You will not know the pricing until you begin to buy. Once you buy, that's the price. I paid too much money for my first albino. I can't complain - he's pretty wicked! I paid top dollar for my first het pieds that don't eat. I'm not happy, but the payoff (not monetary) is coming soon!

I think the reason most ask this question is based on the idea of investments. That being said, do a little math:

* Adult (female) het albino: $2,500
* Breeder-sized (male) albino: $1,500
* Total investment: $4,000

* 8 offspring (4 albinos) sell entire clutch for an average of $3,000

You have recouped all but $1000. But wait! You still have the het albino female and the albino male. Doing simple math, you recovered your initial investment and made a profit - all in the first breeding.

Ok, this was just a simple scenario and YMMV. Most of all, have fun!

ALBINOS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not always good

As many people say, if you are just buying the snakes to make money and not for the love of the snake, you are better off not buying them in the first place, especially ball pythons.

ball pythons have small clutches, don't always eat when you want them to, don't always have a clutch every year, even if you have everything perfect. Even if the odds say half the clutch should be the albino, it is just as likely the entire clutch will be normals.

If you really want an albino, save your money and buy the morph..a baby male typically is the cheapest priced albino you will find.

The prices for any morph of any animal will go down in price as time goes by. The popularity and supply will detect how much it goes down each year. The market is a constant fluctuating field and even advertised prices are not fixed in stone. Most breeders will bargain within reason.
