I'm new to the snake keeping world and just wanted to make my debut...but first i need a little help from the more knoledgeable than myself...i have a heat lamp on my tank with my baby that's 60 wtts...pet store lady said it should be fine...but i woke up this morning and it was alittle chilly in my room...can i put a 50wt heating pad under the tank on one side and set it on low? thanks for the info...later

You can use a heat pad, but it's usually not a good idea, they are not very reliable and they can get so hot that they might burn the snake, even underneath the cage. Get a small $10.00 digital thermostat with a probe on the end (I get mine from k-mart) and put it in the bottom of the cage under when the heat lamp is. The temp in the warm side should be approx 80, but remeber a night time drop to the mid-70's is good.
