I cam across this snake in my hotel room. I was staying at a lodge in a tropical forest in the north of Vietnam.
anybody got an idea what it is?

Sorry - I was too stupid to post the pic...

Dryocalamus davisoni - Northern Bridle Snake - harmless.
However, it is always a good idea to treat any black and white/yellow banded snake in Asia with considerable caution, since some highly venomous kraits (Bungarus) can look remarkably similar.
