het and abinos

bigdee Aug 15, 2007 11:32 AM

Just need some of your opinions. I have one albino and 12 het albino boas born 5/24/07, I also have a almost breedable 1. het pied male and 4 norm female balls. Would it be a good idea to trade the boa litter for a het pied female ball for my male? Also would this be an good even exchange? I do have the het boa parents but I cant afford to purchase a het pied female ball

I personally think that that is not a great deal for you. I believe the going rate for het albino boas is about 150. You have 12 of them so that is about 1,800 worth of trade. You should be able to find a female het pied should be no more then 800. I just looked and found a pair of hets for 600 on this sites classifieds. So basically you are given up 1800 worth of babies for 800 worth of snake in trade. I would look for a breeder looking to get into boas and possibly trade your entire clutch for a visible pied (probably not very high white) or possibly two female hets. To me this would seem like a better option for you. Todd

I would just like to add that a lot of people do not sell their het albinos unless they are from excellent bloodlines like from a jungle litter or from a coral or lipstick line so the babies might not be all sold or even half of them and if the parents are both het for albino then your offspring would be 66% het for albinos so those would be even cheaper then you have to feed them every week and house them so there are good things and there are bad things. I'm not trying to persuade either way cuz I don't like ball pythons at all but make sure if you do trade that it is really a het pied female and not a scam. Best of luck to you and I wish you the best with the babies. If you want the het pied female real bad then trade those puppies but if you are breeding snakes to make money then part of it is selling them and buying or acquiring new animals for further financial gain but at the end of the day you have to look at the animals so work with the ones you want the most
