Well I got tied up again & haven't been online for over a week. My pet room where the indoor box turtles, the aquatics & the rats live caught on fire on Aug 5th & after the electrician repaired the part he needed to repair he said that no we did not have too much stuff plugged in.
He said it is possible that water from the painted turtle tank hit the plug in & caused the fire but the power strip surge protector failed & that right there is why the fire happened. The power strip was no good then he said if you pay less than 10 dollars for those things then they're no good.
I have no idea how much I'd paid for that one but most likely it was a cheapo. I now have them on a power strip that's guaranteed to not cause a fire & am going to replace every power strip in this house one by one.

We're fortunate that we had the proper type of fire extiguisher on hand & we had the fire out before the fire dept. got here.
Now I am crammed into a corner with the aquatic turtles right next to the computer, it's hard to move in here lol but soon the room remodel will be complete & most likely by this weekend everyone can move back into their room.
It's got new paint & a new floor & it'll be better than ever.
NONE of the pets were harmed, we got everyone out so that the smoke wouldn't hurt them, thank God for that!

Geez, Ratz...sorry to hear about the fire, but glad to hear that everyone is okay!

Glad everyone was OK including you. Since you are redoing the room Have the electian put in GFI plugs They are code in Kitchen and bathrooms now. They are like a mini extra circuit breaker in each plug in the wall. Not much more than a regular wall plug and easy to install. Best

Ok so the electrician did replace the plug in & said we need to replace all of them in the house because the old ones were all done on the cheap to begin with.
I don't know what kind he put in but hubby bought more just like it so he can replace every single one in the house.
I suppose they are the right kind since they're the newest things on the market? I hope so.
I'll have to ask DH if that's what he got but my guess is he probably did.

Thanks for the kind words. I am very glad that although I was delayed in getting back online I am back & everything is fine!

So glad to hear that you're ok Ratz! Fires can be very emotionally draining. Take care of yourself in addition to the tiny family members!

Thanks Ken,
It has been a bit draining.. I can't wait to get everything back together again. My house is a mess right now.. I hate all this disorder.
I am so grateful though that nobody was harmed directly by this fire.
It could have been so much worse!

LMAO! It took me a minute to figure it out, but that's one of the cutest pics I ever saw!

Oh, and Phrats, I'm glad no one was injured!
