I was contacted by a U.K. reptile distributor out of Florida who wanted to buy a woma and several of my boas and export them. The second or third day that he talked to me, he asked me if I would sell vision cages on my kingsnake account for him; of course, I declined. After more than three months of getting multiple phone calls and several small payments (some which were short, $100 here, $80 there), I decided I was not comfortable with how he did business and was going to refund his money instead of sending him the snakes.
Unfortunately, I made the mistake of sending him two separate payments. There first payment was sent July 10, 00:23 hours; the second payment was sent July 10, 19:37 hours through PayPal. In between the first payment and the second payment, he started three Forum threads against me, filed a claim against me through PayPal, said he was a retired policeman and that he called a retired police buddy here in my state, and was getting paperwork to file legal actions against me.
I ended up paying $275 out of my pocket to cover all Pay Pal fees to get him his full amount back. The money was no big deal, but the damage to my reputation will haunt me for years. What a nightmare!

Adam,I have seen you around here for a LONG time.

I have never seen or heard of you causing any trouble or doing

any shady business deals.

I think the majority of the members of this forum are SERIOUSE

breeders and Herpers.

I don't think that your reputation has been tainted in any way

here with us.

He said her wrote ks a letter about me so I wasn't sure if he posted anything also on ks about me because I wasn't looking at the forums at the time. I hope this deal dose no lasting damage to my name.

That sucks, Adam. You gave him the benefit of the doubt and he couldn't pay in full over a quarter of a year? It's BS that he reported you to paypal. You should make sure you leave negative feedback for him on each of the transactions he made to you.
Regarding the "retired cop" thing...screw him! You have done nothing wrong or illegal.
I don't think this will affect your reputation. I wouldn't hesitate to buy an animal from you.

I'm sorry to hear that Adam but maybe next time have a little contract between you and the buyer stating that he has 3 months to buy the animal or animals with 25% down or sometimes they may take a year to pay for it or whatever and now you have a yearling on your hands that you have been feeding, cleaning and caring for with no extra money awarded to you for supposedly his snake while it takes up room in your snake room. Don't do business with cops, lawyers or doctors for future reference The hell with him and if somebody like Jeremy Stone buys an animal from you then you can't be that bad and him buying from you is a very good compliment and reference so the hell with that fella. Just keep on doing what you doing Adam and you'll be fine

Adam don't sweat it. You did the right thing. My suggestion is that you write up what happened and put it on the BOI along with his name. All you can do is be fair with people, there is always a certain number of people out there who are bad news. To threaten you AFTER you returned his money is proof positive he's just a crazy freak. Don't aweat it, I'd but a snake from you anytime.

I'm trying to get over this and just let it go so I'm not going to post anything about him. You can search my name on Fauna and see the post he started about me. I feel like I came off as being a jerk with the post I put on there. I was very upset at the time because he started a thread about me so fast without any contact first. I just wish I could go back in time and change the way things worked out between us. Oh well life gose on.
