CA Ghost Story ..... surprise !

johnberry Aug 15, 2007 04:08 PM

I must admit this one came as a nice surprise (after some bad odds with other breedings but thats anther story ...)

Anyway we bred a possible Type 1 Anery NIC to a Hypo NIC male ... expecting Hypos het Anery ... however instead we got a litter of Reverse Striped babies with what looks like 2 Ghosts and some nice Hypo NICs ... so the Hypo male was a het for Type 1 Anery as well.

Seems to be something with the Type 1 Anery gene or is it that many of the Hypo NICs are just hets as well as this has happened to other breeders as well (I think Amanda Burke had a long post a while back on the same thing). As for all the striping, thats just an extra nice bonus. What do you think ?

Pure Nicaraguan Striped Ghost ... probably not for sale

Thanks Matt, they are not as completely striped as your killer Panamanian Hypos but I'm still happy with them

I'm trying to imagine a CA Motley Ghost .... oh, yeah.

Congratulations John, very nice surprise indeed! I'm loving the reverse-striped Ghost, I would have a tough time taking my eyes off of that one for sure!

Stunning snakes John, congratulations. Out of interest, do you have a picture of the male and female that produced this litter. Also, were there any type I anerythristics produced?

Regards,
Warren

Hi Warren , here is a picture of the sire of the NIC Ghost ... as you can see, a normal looking Hypo NIC. I believe there is more going on with the light tailed Type 1 Anery NICs as Gus had the same thing happen from a Hypo NIC to a Type 1 he also produced a Ghost.

I'll get some other photos taken of the others after Daytona.

cheers, John

Thanks everyone for all positive feedback and emails ... Central American Boas are HOT .... we still have loads more interesting stuff to see from the dwarf boas

And for all everyone who has asked me I'm sorry but I can't make Daytona this year ... too much happening here in the UK ... however I'm aiming for next year.
