I recently picked up a couple 6 month old stars, they were sold as sri lankan but how can i tell them from mainland stars? I dont want to find out 4-5 years down the road when they stop growing> Thanks for the thought. dal

The only way you can know for sure what you have is to know who bred them and from whom they got their adult breeders. If you have that info or can find it out, I can tell you the likelihood of your Stars actually being Sri Lankans or not. There are VERY FEW true full-blooded Sri Lankan Stars in this country, and most of them came from one source.
Do you know the breeder of your youngsters?
I assumed that you were from the US, which may or may not be the case. If you are not from the US, there is no way I can help you figure out what you have, unless you can get photos of the parents of your animals, preferably next to a ruler or other object to show the size to scale.
