fair price for a hog island boa?

jack77 Aug 16, 2007 01:45 PM

I'm interested in buying a hog island boa. What is a fair price on CB 07 babies? Are there any breeders that are known for good hogs that would have any available?

If your only looking for a "pet" then most any will do.
Their usually not more then $200
Just check around for the Sellers Public References before you purchase.
Cool little Boa for sure

First Hog Island baby I bought was in 05 and I paid 275. The next year I bought 2 more (all from different breededrs) and paid 175 for the male and 250 for the female. All had to be shipped and I paid that as well. I am pleased with all 3. I would suggest you buy the one YOU want regardless of +/- 50 bucks. Hogs have a fairly easy to trace history through reputation of the breeder.

Old pic... this HIB is my favorite.

Thanks for the info. I have never owned boas. I am mainly a colubrid guy. Are hog island boas pretty easy to maintain? I don't want a snake that gets too big either. Do they top out eating rats, or will I need rabbits? Also, who are the reputable breeders I should be looking at? They don't seem to be very available on most of the classifieds forums.

Thats exactly the color snake I am looking for.

I picked up a '06 female last year for £150, which in Northern Ireland, is a fair price. If you're in the US, that's not going to be very helpfull!

Do ya know of someone with a young male hog (not a mutt)? I could use one if it’s the price.
