eggs hatched last night! (several pics)

sleepofapples Aug 17, 2007 05:00 PM

i just wanted to show off and ask some silly newb questions..

everything i have read says to wait for 3-5 days to feed.. but it doesnt say what the best thing to start with is? babyfood or tiny crickets? and do i just start to offer it the third day or should i have it available to them now even if they arent going to eat (babyfood or crestie diet that is, not the crickets)... thats really it for now... these are the first crestie eggs ive ever hatched, so im terrified that i am going to do something dumb and kill the babies..

oh, i also remember reading that the colors they are initially is not any indicator of what they will look like? is this true to some degree?

here they are!

i would put some crested gecko diet in on whatever your next normal feeding day is (i feed 3 times a week and leave the food in at all times). if you'd like to feed calcium-dusted crickets once a week as well, you could try a couple at first to see if they will be eaten (crickets should be no larger than the distance between the gecko's eyes).

and yes, cresteds often undergo a dramatic color change from baby to adult.

oh and be sure there's no substrate other than paper towel in there while you're feeding crickets to them if you decide to do so.
