That is so crazy Tim cuz just 2 hours ago I wrote on paper the number of shelves and tops (16) I need as well as the four sides and the support pieces for the bottom shelf like Dave recommends but I hope mine turns out well and yours too btw. I will post some pics of my beast when it's said and done but money is holding me up then I have to get the iris cb110 tubs and flexwatt and herpstat 4 channel so I can keep some bci and rainbows in the same rack with the rainbows at the bottom of course and I need a low watt soldering iron so I have my plate full and I also need to get the rat rack together too. So many things so little money Tim lol

lol i hear ya there on the money issue thats why mine is only $50 lol roughly anywhos its only gonna hold 6 containers that are 14X14X7 but like i said its a temp quarentine rack or maybe turned into a out of baby rack one step up rack or somethign lol who knows only time will tell its true porpose in life lol.

strictly4fun Aug 18, 2007 01:44 PM

kind of thermo are you using? A Ranco? I have a boaphile rack right now housing five 24 inch tubs but as soon as I build these two racks then that one will be my q-rack and I already have a helix on it so I'm set for racks for snakes until I have to build some baby tub racks but the rest of my caging will prolly be some 421T from Jeff though for my breeders

right now for my rep room/computer room/bedroom im usinf helix and rancos for my quarentine i picked up a el cheapo esu 1000 watt where you can set the temp works like a ranco but cheaper and only a temp thing

LOL, sounds like I've sparked a fire under more than one butt!!

Those support pieces above the bottom shelf are CRITICAL if you plan on putting the rack on wheels to distribute the load from the bottom shelf to the sides. If you're not going to have it on wheels (I really like mine on wheels) then the support pieces above the bottomn shelf are not needed. I cut mine out of left over scraps. With any job there are always leftover pieces.

That's a great price to make a rack you're lucky you had all the things you needed just lying around.

concidering the material i had and space and tubs etc it hold 6 tubs that are 14X14X7 three shelf high but 2 tubs sit next to each other. its only a cheap temp Q rack and sooner or later might be turned into somehtign else like a upgrade for my baby keepers so they are not in shoeboxes lol

rainbowsrus Aug 18, 2007 08:14 PM

degfinitely need a periodic upgrade to new digs. Just spent part of yesterday and today shuffling animals around so the genesis babies could move up in tub size.
