SHE BASKED!

ketel1 Aug 20, 2003 11:19 AM

My husband adjusted the new platform set-up (angled it towards the water a bit-not parallel to the water surface anymore) and added some water and our RES climbed up this morning! It's been two weeks since we changed her tank. So- I hope she will continue to do it. She did see me peeking around the corner and slid back in thinking it was food time, darn it!

From what I've seen, turtles can be lazy. If it's too hard to climb up to bask they may just not do it. I finally found a nice way to help them up on the ramp. I got some of the aluminum mesh stuff they sell as a gutter guard for your house. I laid it across the top, folded it under one side, and let it hang off the other. They love it. They hang on it all the time and it's really easy for them to climb.

Well, perhaps you are right. She basked most of the day, making up for lost time I suppose. Now, I have to tell my husband, who is out of town on business, that HE WAS RIGHT!
