Wireless Theremometer... What You Think?

khandof Aug 19, 2007 12:29 AM

I found this Wireless Digital Thermometer with two sensors to measure the warm and cool side of the cage. Is this thermometer worth my time and money?

Check it out and tell me what you think?

Thanks,

Khando

Personally I wouldn't buy it. There is no indicating it is a wireless thermometer from the description, just that it is a stick on digital thermometer you can stick on the window outside or inside.

It would be cheaper to buy a regular thermometer with probe, it will cost less and you don't have to pay shipping as you can get them from any department store.

This one would only be good to measure ambient temperatures, not basking temperatures so you would need to buy another thermometer or a temp gun to measure surface temperatures of the basking area and cooler end of the cage.

With the first one, I can't tell how big the remotes are but they don't look very small.

I use the Flukers digital thermometer/hygrometers. They are small and use velcro to hold them on. They are only 12.99.

I don't think either of the ones you are looking at are any better than the Flukers.

Thanks I'll look into the Flukers digital thermometer/hygrometers,

Oh, I see these are two different thermometers. The more expensive white ones...not worth the extra cost. They are cool but again, the range may not be very good and wireless signals can be interrupted etc. Besides, from the size of the remove probes they would be knocked over all the time. Having them on the side of the cage sort of defeats the propose of having a thermometer with probes..
