Work in progress...not close to done...

FRoberts Aug 19, 2007 10:20 PM

Work in progress...not close to done...many...many more to photograph...

Let's get this one out of the way...

Pandinus imperator from one of my breeding's in 2000 or 2001...

( very easy to breed )

Also a very bad pic of some eggs from a Fire Skink breeding in early 2003...

Box turtle that I gave to Jim way back in the day...

Various colubrids in collection...

Eastern Chain King snake...

Lemke Black pines...

Al Swanson line...Staten Island serpents.

Northern Pine's...

This has to be the slowest growing snake I have ever kept and or seen...

Baja California gopher snake, San Lucan ( San Lucan phase) Gopher Snake, Cape Gopher Snake.

Scientific Name: Pituophis catenifer vertebralis

I do not agree with the classification of the Pituophis sp.

I believe it should be taken out of catenifer and have full species status...

Pituophis vertebralis

Mother to my leucistic texas rat snakes...( this is one of the two lucy's I gave my friend John Rodriguez originally, he grew them up and bred and he got fertile eggs the first time she breed )

Captive bred by my friend John Rodriguez....

also my Lavender Texas Rat snake bred by Mark Bell

Lavender Texas rat snake CB Mark Bell

Captive bred or owned by my friend Jim Alexander or myself ( as in all posted neonate B.c.i. )....

some...B.c.i. in my collection...Note : all adult B.c.i. in this post are my friend Jim Alexander's and all neonates where captive bred by him unless otherwise noted...plus all Argentines are his snakes as well.

Mother to my B.c.i. that Jim gave me ( 2.2 )

litter from above female..

Jim's clutch from the northern pines that I gave him ( 1.2 ) in 2001 when I bred them.

His Argentine litter...

Virgin female bci ( my friend Jim's )....humm...I need some her babies....

One of my friend Jim's argentine babies...

BRB's.....Jeff Clark female...

Jeff Clark male...before color change...

Jeff Clark male...after color change...

other types of boa's in collection...

Various pythons in my collection....( notations when necessary )

( all ball pythons in this post are his ) Although, I do own one pair of regular ole Royals

Boo...peek-a-boo royal...

coastal carpet is Jointly owned with John Rodriguez...

also owned jointly with John is this one blood python...

Neonate from the last time I bred retic's or any python for that matter....been a long time.... was sorta Dormant, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's the ticket...

Blood male I gave to my friend Jim this year. (2007)

Diamond / JCP hybrid...

Pic that I got when photographing a mainland reticulated python....????? Yikes !!! lol

soon to be new JCP and womas captive bred by Mike Curtain ( captain_nemo )

Sold, given away, and or RIP...

Man behind the madness...

I saved my favorite ( animal ) for last..it is the only animal in my collection that I gave a real name. All others are very "generic" names to keep tract of pertinent data.

( for example...BW_bci_female...Boa Woman Boa constrictor imperator ) Ain't I exciting !!!!

BW_bci_female

Here's Mikey...

and a little ditty.....

Voices come from down the hall
In my room all painted white
I have my bat and rubber ball
I like to sleep with them at night

But now I'm all smiles
the good little shots must be winning
Yes, they crank my dial
My motor is stalled but my wheels are still spinning

Daddy won't discuss me
What a state I must be
Mommy couldn't stand living with a wind-up toy

All my friends live on the floor
Tiny legs and tiny eyes
They're free to crawl under the door
And, and someday soon so will I

But now I'm all smiles
These good little shots must be working
I'm so happy now
Look, my fingers don't shake and my head isn't jerking

Daddy won't discuss me
What a pain I must be
Mommy couldn't stand having such a wound-up boy

Doctors want to check me
Poke me and dissect me
What do they expect?
Feelings from a wound-up toy?
I don't think so
I'm just a wound-up toy
I'm just a wind-up toy

I'm lost in a nightmare
Shiny white halls
Drawing rats on the wall
Solitary confinement
Chained in a cell
got my own private hell

Preacher crucifies me
Warden wants to fry me
I was never young
Never just a little boy

Daddy won't discuss me
What a pain I must be
Mama couldn't stand having such a wound-up boy
I'm just a wind-up toy
I'm a wind-up toy
I'm just a wind-up toy
I'm just a wind-up toy

Great collection and photos! Love your black pines. I have a very nice pair, too. Two year olds this year and getting huge!

Frank,
...Great PICs. I especially liked the Eastern Kingsnake. When I used to hunt around here they were at the top of my list of nicest snakes to find.
...Your male BRB you got from me seems to have gone through a color change much like my Santarem except maybe not all the way there losing the color yet. One of the other vendors at the show came by to talk to me about a male he got in a pet store that went through the same color change right after it started breeding. It lost most of the color including having the crescents turn white over a period of a couple shed cycles.

Jeff,
he has stayed the "new color" but at night is twice as light, he is feeding voraciously, guess he is getting ready for his fast, it is starting to get cold in NJ at night, by end of month their cycling will start. They both are doing very well and eat great. I will attempt to breed them this season, she is well over 3.5 pounds now, with what appears to be no end to her hunger, eats every time, male only eats every 14-18 days, will not eat any more then that, then again it's perfect, don't want him that fat any ways...I love eastern chain kings, I need to get a female, I have never even once bred any king snakes, only eastern milks, they where pain in the butt as hatchlings, tiny little things, eastern are much larger when they hatch. They also are very "purplish", hard to get on film. He is quite the little terminator, even though his prey is only F/T, he kills it well lol...thanks for the compliments....

>>Frank,
>>...Great PICs.

Frank,
..I have bred Eastern and Florida kings. The Eastern babies are big and strong. A few of them refused rodents for awhile but took lizards right from the start. The Florida Kingsnake eggs and babies are smaller but all of mine ate mice first. I saw a couple of big 5 foot plus Eastern Kings at the show and they were impressive.

Jeff,

Thanks for the Intel, I have seen many eastern in the 3-4 foot range, pretty common in NJ. I have been in awe of them for quite some time. I remember a 5 footer in the office of cheasequake state park NJ. His name was Carl the king snake...I fed that snake over 50 meals in a 5 year period. I caught deer mice, meadow mice, and garter snakes for him to eat every year I went camping there....Look Frank's back lol...I have seen some in the wild as well, I got this one last year as a hatchling from split rock reptiles....now I have to get another one, he just started eating rat pups last feeding, he will now grow like a weed I beat...funny thing is they are so nice, cheap, and under rated. The ones in NJ have lot's of red in them, so do some n.pine's...but the red in the kings vanishes when they grow, the pines hold the red however and some have a lot of it...best examples I have seen are jet black and white, as in kings and pines...probably a good color combo for the white sand and brush everywhere...kewl stuff, all mine are captive bred. I have been tempted many times but just leave them where they stand...I also have this affinity for all black snakes, so black rats and black racers are among my favorite NJ species...Black rats, never caught one in jersey. All states surrounding me is where I have my luck with those...racers are a few minutes from my house...poor Scott can not even find one lol...

>>Frank,
>>..I have bred Eastern and Florida kings. The Eastern babies are big and strong. A few of them refused rodents for awhile but took lizards right from the start. The Florida Kingsnake eggs and babies are smaller but all of mine ate mice first. I saw a couple of big 5 foot plus Eastern Kings at the show and they were impressive.

>>>>Jeff,
>>>>he has stayed the "new color" but at night is twice as light, he is feeding voraciously, guess he is getting ready for his fast, it is starting to get cold in NJ at night, by end of month their cycling will start. He is quite the little terminator, even though his prey is only F/T, he kills it well lol...thanks for the compliments....

>>>>>>...Your male BRB you got from me seems to have gone through a color change much like my Santarem except maybe not all the way there losing the color yet. One of the other vendors at the show came by to talk to me about a male he got in a pet store that went through the same color change right after it started breeding. It lost most of the color including having the crescents turn white over a period of a couple shed cycles.

Jeff,

do you by any chance have pictures or memories of what the snakes that changed colors later in life looked like when born, if I get blessed with babies I am going to want to hold any pos females back to line breed to him in the future...????
