JCP Eating Technique?

drdoolittle Aug 20, 2003 12:10 PM

I've got a JCP I bought in April. I've been putting the f/t fuzzies in the cage before I go to bed so he can eat in peaceful darkness. Great eater so far. Last night I had to go into the room for something after he'd been fed and I noticed him swallowing a fuzzie with his head and first several inches of his body straight up vertical while holding onto his branch with the rest of his body. Makes sense for a snake up in a tree or branch to swallow this way but I just wanted to check if this is pretty normal - none of my other snakes has ever done this but this is my first JCP. Thanks.

Most of my colubrids have swallowed prey with their heads up like that. I haven't fed my JCP yet but I'm sure they do it occaisonally as well.
