Daytona Show 2007 Photos *DUW*

RyanHomsey Aug 20, 2007 12:34 PM

It was that time of the year again... the "superbowl" of reptile shows. I've attended a number of large scale shows in the past and I have to say that I am happy to see an ever increasing amount of interest in boas in particular.

This year was a blast. The boa forums on Friday night were great... and the show was full of many exciting new boa morphs. I'm sure there was great ball python stuff too... I just didnt care about it .

It was great to meet up with Frank Martin, Pete Kahl, Bill Kirby, Celia Chen, Tom Burke, Jeff Ronne, Jeremy Stone, etc. I can't say enough good about the people involved with this hobby.

I actually didnt spend as much time as I wanted to at the show. I wasnt able to make it down until Sunday and didnt get there until fairly late. Nevertheless, I think I got a few good photos. I dont shoot with flash at these shows for two reasons: My external flash is huge and I dont want someone bumping into me and knocking it off...and breaking my camera... and the flash is not good for shooting through the clear plastic cages (causes reflection). All these are taken with available lighting and 95% are white balance calibrated.

Many of the photos I do not remember who the vendors were. This first one is of a bunch of snows as we walked in prior to paying:

We then made our way to Jeremy Stone's table:

This paradox albino was SWEET!

Next was BCIJoe's setup.

Next World Exotics had some neat stuff

Tom Burke's table is always a blast. The land of upscale sunglows...

Arabesque Sunglow!!!

I forget whose table this was. I believe these are hog/hypos with sunglows (sub adult/adult age).

A couple sharp strains

Doug Matuzaks (Boa basement) stuff

This was a sweet sharp sunglow of his... I wanted this little one!

On to Peter Kahl's table:

Then to Frank Martin's table. Frank apparently lost his "Silverback Serpent" banners via a UPS shipping error... eek!

An orangasm sunglow... red eyes on this one

This one is apparently Andy's favorite:

Bill Kirby's table was next

Moonglow

Hans's Table

Celia's Table

Hypo Aztecs!

VPI had a couple of their "T " animals there, sub adult/adult age too.. Stunning boas

D and M was there with some stunning sunglows, as usual

And last but not least - SUPER STRIPES! These guys really blew me away. I had heard about these animals but had not seen them in the flesh until now. Apparently it is some sort of codom/dom mutation that produces very consistant/big stripes. Very cool!

I hope you all enjoyed the pics! I can't wait until the 08 show already... hopefully I can snag a table myself then!

Great pics....wish my cam wouldn't have been messed up this year but you did a good job taking some pics of some beautiful snakes!

I forgot who it was that actually had them but I spoke with them for a few minutes about the Super Stripes. The Super Stripes are actually a recessive morph...they were originally named that just because they thought it looked better than the original genetic stripes. The person who started breeding them in the first place had them and sold them off to someone who apparantly wasn't able to take very good care of them and lost quite a few. Luckily a few survived and there they are now. They are some awesome boas...I'd love to see them plugged into a few morphs! Hopefully the person who had them can tell more about them but that was kind of just our conversation.
