Longets Time laying After POS

scott pasqua Aug 20, 2007 02:32 PM

I was wondering what the longest time was that anyone had viable eggs from a ball python after the pre-lay shed.
I am not the type to worry but I am at 50 days now.
She just started clearing out the aspen bedding about a week ago.

hmm

Thanks

Scott
PS

Yes, she is gravid.
lol

I've had one go around eleven days late so far.

Didn't you have the same deal happen last season?...If so,is this the same female?

Another thing to think about is whether or not lower than average cage temps during gestation would have the same effect as lower than average incubation temps(ie,longer time to hatch date.)...i've been wondering about this...

Also, when you candle the eggs...take note if any have a yellow look at the top of the egg(inside of course). It is my firm belief that this is an indicator that the egg is in fact upside down.(I'm thinking "yolk down" is correct.)
I have had numerous "rollouts" hatch now.(Then there is the clutch that i actually pulled apart and inverted eggs that appeared upside down in this way.)...Yep they all hatched!

I mean she hasn't dropped her eggs yet.
I have had a female drop her eggs about a week late before but never over 50 days.

Thanks for your comments though

I had a female lay 54 days after her POS. It's pretty irritating, isn't it.

Cool,
Yea, like I said she is finally clearing away the aspen.
I think tonight is the night.
Does soft music help?
lol

The soft music usually does help... but only if you also have candles.

If she is past that stage and is getting ready to actually lay you may need to hold her hand, get her the nurse when she wants, help her count and remind her to breathe. Oh wait... that's for the OTHER women in our lives... my bad.
