oops, sorry, i cut myself off right away. What i was about to say was that I am beginning to believe that the spot marking is hereditary. This hatchling just came out today and as you can see, it has a spot mark. The second pic below is the mother (an anery het hypo), also with a spot mark right corner below the pic. The father of the hatchlings is a ghost but I got all anerys het hypo...and this hatchling is the only one that has the spot marking.
I was hoping to get a ghost with a spot marking. oh, well, maybe next year.
later...

Thanks Erik. By the way, your tricolor hypo that you will keep is a knockout. Great job !

Ray, I have produced many hondurans of all kinds with that spot. Its pretty common and yes usually one of the adults has it and just passes it along.
Thats weird that you didn't get any ghost? half your clutch should have been ghost. Are you sure your anery is het hypo? how many eggs were there in the clutch. If it was small 4 or so I could see it but anymore than that and I would have to wonder.
Shannon

yeah, I was wondering about that why i did not get a single ghost. There are 5 eggs total but the last one did not hatch and I slit a section of that last egg but all I could see was whitish syrup like liquid. I don't see any formation of hatchling in there. You raised a good point about the mother that she may not be het hypo. It was her first year to breed, so she is not proven other than the fact that I was told by the seller when I purchased her two years ago that she was definite het for hypo gene. I got my two albino adults also as hets (this time het for anery) from the same breeder that I got the anery with the spot. Both those albinos bred this year and produced two snow hatchlings out of eight of them. So, I should not have any reason to suspect otherwise...that the anery is not het hypo or that I was misled two years ago by that same breeder/seller.
At least I am absolutely sure that the hatchlings are het anery since my ghost was the father and has been a producer of ghost hatchlings. He fathered 7 ghosts so far combining this year and last year but those 7 ghosts are from a ghost female...yeah, the doubt is now creeping in my mind about this adult anery with a spot if she is het hypo. Maybe next year, I'll breed her next season with a different male like a hypo extreme to see if she will produce a hypo to prove her out.
Anyway, thanks for your input. What have you produced so far Shannon? I'm curious to know what came out of your extreme projects.

Yes, I would give her one more year but it sounds like she sin't het for hypo.Found out from the breeder what the parents were.
I havn't produced very much this year. Some amels, ghosts, snows and a few nice hypos from extreme father but normal hypo mother.
My extreme tri-color clutches went south since he bred three females and to just up and died gravid and the other laid slugs.
Oh well, there is always next year.
L8r Shannon
sorry to hear that Shannon. I'm sure next year will be great for you.
later man,
