Lizard Maker by T-Rex. In my experience it works somewhat ok, most neonates will refuse it but it does work on a few. I have had some snakes that wouldn't take real lizard scented take it. Kinda like some will take Sceloperous scented but not skink scented and vice versa. It isn't a magic trick but part of an arsenal of techniques to have.

I have a bottle of that stuff here, but i have never had luck with it... I think your much better off trying a gecko..

You don't have to keep the gecko alive, just freeze it and use it whenever you need it..

Lizard maker never turned a baby grayband's head for me. I am suprized it never worked once. My wife keeps an earless lizard as a pet, I collect the shed skin and just a little bit of that has worked every single time for me. a tiny tiny square of skin cut off with an xacto from frozen house gecco works great too (lizard maker works about as well as the scent of a caveman).

This is a male from 1.4 north of loma just so you have something to look at!

I've been using the same earless lizard for five years and it still does the trick. It is stored in the freezer when not in use. I also no longer thaw it, just let the outside thaw slightly, then rub the washed pinks on the lizard.
I've had poor luck with the commercial scents.

Some people make their own by chopping up a dead lizard, putting in a couple ounces of water and microwaving for 20-30 seconds, then keeping the liquid.

I prefer mine with parsley and ground pepper. Goes great with white wine. LOL

Don't forget the Fava beans, Hannibal.

I actually talked to this french guy who made this stuff. Its made from Mediterranean gecko wich is not the best lizard for this.It nuetralizes in a few months(looses its scent)Sceloporous and Cophosaurus have always been my favorites but others will work.Good luck.

Thanks for all the input, sounds like bottled scent is a waste. I've had success with picky eaters using mediterranean geckos on every other occasion, guess this is a hard case. I'll try coming across a native lizard as soon as possible.

Thanks,

John

I'm chiming in a little late on this thread, but I can vouch for the captive lizard method.

I don't keep gbk's but I have various milks that throw non feeders. I tried lizard maker early on, and it never worked. I would not buy it. Since then, I have been keeping w/c Eumeces skiltonianus, they thrive in captivity, and get very tame. Washed and dried f/t pinks with a little skiltonianus shed works like magic on non feeding lamps.

I have two males in a 10 gallon aq. and have a constant supply of shed. there is a dominant male that intimidates the other, and hence, one is very skittish, I hope to replace it with a female.

I tried keeping iguanids (Sceloporus), but they were to stressed out to feed and proved to be to high maintenance for me, the skinks however, fed as soon as I put them in the aq. and now take worms out of my hand. I give them broad spectrum light, basking area and feed them twice a week with wax worms or crickets, and some vitamins.

I don't rear snakes on scented mice, but it defenatly kick starts the reluctant feeders.

good luck.

Thad
