range of FL blues? sad news

fliptop Aug 20, 2007 07:21 PM

Yesterday I visited Everglades National Park, and unfortunately, the only snakes I saw were DORs--two slate-colored racers and one blue-sided gartersnake.

Am I mistaken in thinking the FL blues are supposed to occur in the northern part of the state, or do they occur as far south as Florida City?

She had a yellowish stripe down her back, which was flanked by dark stripes on either side with discernable checkerboards contained within, and then the beautiful blue sides and venter.

I say "she" because she was gravid, and her partially compressed body was surrounded by the little, fully developed babies that met their fate along with their mother. Real shame that really made me feel all sick inside. Didn't have a camera with me, otherwise I'd be sharing the disappointing encounter.
