Shedding

theredneckgal Aug 20, 2003 12:43 PM

I have read in other posts about shedding, and the fact that it can take up to ten months. My question is do you have to worry about thier toes like you do with Lepoard Geckos? Drake is shedding on his feet right now and the stuff on his feet seems to be stuck. Also how long before his back sheds? He is currently shedding around the legs, feet, and under his chin. He was just starting to shed when we got him and I want to see the true color on his back and belly!

Yes sometimes you do have to worry about thier toes. I give mine a bath when ever they seem to be having trouble on thier toes.

I really dont think there is any way to predict when they shed certain parts of their body. If it helps my female was sheding her legs and tail for the past 3 months, and now she is quickly shedding her back. I think The back is the easiest part to shed because she is shedding her back in amazing speed lol. in 3 weeks basically all of her back was done shedding and she just started to shed her stomach. This is really like a constant process for my uros. once they finished shedding they are amazing for about 1 month and then they start all over agian.

Thanks so much for the info. Gave drake a bath today(we went outside to dry off) and was glad I did, because after I thought we were all done with the bath I found *yuck* in his tail! so we had a second bath and a *brush* but for being W.C. and only having him for 2 months he did really well with the brush. I will keep an eye on his toes I used a pair of tweezers to get the loose stuff on his toes off today because I have long nails and he gets a little jumpy still. I can tell his legs will be shedding very soon, they are very loose.tyvm for the info.
