Anyone else having trouble selling....?

JP Aug 21, 2007 09:09 AM

Anyone else having trouble selling hatchlings this season? I have produced three clutches so far in '07, and have sold nothing to date. I produce lower end stuff (genetic reduced pattern and hets, possible double hets albino X axanthic), and advertize in the classifieds. In previous years I have sold every hatchling I wanted to sell, and usually within a few days of advertising. In the past, pretty much every time I relisted an ad, I got a few e-mails. Now, I list my ads daily and I am getting no serious responses...Hell, I'm not even getting the foreign scam e-mails. I'm not in this thing for profit, but I need to sell some babies if for no other reason than to make space so I can play again next year. I've thought about doing shows, but I'd spend a grand just to make a grand...not a real attractive "business opportunity". Is it just me and what I have to offer? Any thoughts?

Joe, dont take this the wrong way but it is what you have to offer. With the prices of morphs coming down people want proven morphs they have desired for a long time that they just could not afford in the past.

I've hatched nearly 40 clutches so far and am sold out of every item that I've really even tried to sell this year.

Take care, have fun and remember for most this should just be a hobby

...but, don't take my word for it.
Just peruse the classifieds for a week.

Prices on everything from Spinners to SilverStreaks to LemonBlasts seem to be going down with each passing week.

12K for (insert combo morph here) as a hatchling last year. It's a year later and (insert seller's name here) is now offering the same animal, as a yearling, for 7 or 8K.

Uh-huh.

Too, too many choices nowadays for anyone wanting a 'other-than-normal' Ball Python.

Since I'm sure someone will fire away, go ahead and shoot the messenger. (Just be sure they're not blanks in the gun...)
Being realistic shouldn't be a fault, should it?
Thanks....
